• What should we definitely visit if we only have a few hours in Mechelen?

  The most important sights in Mechelen are the Sint-Romboutstoren, the Schepenhuis museum, the large and small Beguinage and the palaces of the Margarets. The top 10 sights can also help you choose.

• Is the station far from the centre and how do I get to the Grote Markt?

  Central Station is a 12-minute walk from the city centre. You could also take city bus lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 in the direction of the Grote Markt from platform 1.

• Can we take a boat trip in Mechelen?

  If you leave from the Haverwerf you can take a boat trip through the city centre.

• Are there guided city walks that we can take?

  Every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday from 01/04 to 31/10 there is a multilingual historical walk Three Generations of Burgundians that departs from the Toerismehuis. During the Easter holiday, in July and in August this walk is can be done daily.

• What are the main shopping streets in Mechelen?

  The main shopping streets are concentrated in the pedestrian triangle Bruul – IJzerenleen – Onze-Lieve-Vrouwestraat and their side streets.
