Saint Martin’s Garden

In need of some peace and quiet? Concealed within Mechelen’s city walls are many green spaces where you can take the weight off your feet and unwind.

One of these is the fresh and verdant walled Sinte-Mettetuin situated between the Bruul, Lange Schipstraat and Schaalstraat, an oasis of peace just a short walk from the shops. Three different paths allow you to access and explore this contemporary space. And running under your feet is an old stream, which rather than being uncovered, is imaginatively represented by blue plants and riprap (rock).

Experience the garden from one of the benches or pieces of outdoor fitness equipment. Or take a stroll around the garden, seeking out nooks and crannies and keeping an eye open for the ingenious plan view of this recently constructed oasis.

When?

You can visit the garden:

from October to March: 9 -19.00 hrs
from April to September: 9 – 21.00 hrs
